Corinne Johnson
Corinne Johnson (UMass '80) is the General Manager and Area Executive for General Electric’s Aircraft Engines in
She has been at General Electric since 1990, where she started as Environmental Health and Safety Manager and later assumed responsibilities for the Utilities and Facilities Engineering organizations. Johnson also served as Plant Manager of the Hooksett Manufacturing Plant in
Johnson began leading teams early in her career after moving from the analytical lab to implementing then-new hazardous waste removal regulations at Avco Corporation. Always science-minded and people-oriented, her focus turned in earnest to environmental health after she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease and underwent successful treatments the summer after her freshman year at UMass Amherst.
Today, Corinne is propelling performance in aircraft engines/parts, marine propulsion and gears manufacture, and she oversees 4,000 employees, 2,600 of them in four unions, who drive design engineering, sourcing and manufacturing.
Prior to joining GE, Johnson was a consultant in the Environmental Health and Safety Practice at Arthur D. Little and held a variety of positions at Avco Corporation. During this time Corinne also pursued and received a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering from
Corinne was awarded the UMass Alumni Association Alumna of the Year Award in 2003. She is currently a Board Member for the Associated Industries of Massachusetts. She has been featured on the front page of the Boston Women’s Business newspaper.
